As the oldest member of the group there’s a need to make this reunion work because Dixon is afraid of what life will be like after this chapter is finished. He believes this is his last glorious blaze of fame with the band he loves before fading into obscurity alone.

I want him to find the deep personal love that he deserves. To find that he’s actually worth love when he can no longer hide on a stage.”

We're all so excited to launch Boyband Hell!

It’s been almost a year since I first began the project for the yaoi game jam. And now over eight months since I applied to the Qweerty Gamers grant. Thank you again to Zejbo, our long time beta-reader, for the suggestion. It was definitely a team effort to make this game. 

I’m grateful for those who opted into putting their portion back into the game, like Lopson, our QA lead, who insisted we use it to fix the bugs and polish tweaks they found. Rae, our jam interim programmer, just wanted us to be able to market the game.

Here’s what some of our team members are up to now!

"I’m really excited to have Boyband Hell out to a larger audience and so thankful to Qweerty for allowing us to go on this journey together. 

I learned a lot that I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to. It’s awesome to know there’s communities like Qweerty helping small devs get their work to larger audiences.

Now I’m trying to get the full version of Satan is an Astronaut out! It’s live on steam and people can start wishlisting now. Then it’s on to my next game The Celestial Waltz which is an Otome/Amare game with loads of LGBTQ themes."

“I’m happy to have worked on editing the story for Boyband Hell as it’s evolved from the original jam incarnation to a grant-winning mobile game. 

Thanks Jacqueline for giving me the chance to work as an editor on this! I’ve enjoyed both refining sentences and providing feedback on the plot and characters.

Lately I’ve been proofreading manga and webcomics for Yen Press and Tapas. I also edit light novels for J-Novel Club and write articles about pop culture for Unwinnable.”

“I have a couple of projects I’m working on that I think would appeal to a Boyband Hell audience. 

Of Sense and Soul is a queer Victorian slow burn romance with one love interest. I play Hugo Brooks, a solitary writer for a local paper who is hoping for the courage to pursue his dream of being a published poet. Also, Dragons Heart is about a man rediscovering his ability to live and live after the loss of his wife. The main character is canonically bi and all romancible options presented in the game are male. I play the Prosperity Dragon, the source of the main characters inner power.”

“My band Beady Jay is performing together after a long hiatus! 

I do vocals and guitar, my friend and I switch off lead guitar and vocals. I’m working on new music too.”

-Luis Bautista (Kylo Bird), the voice of Blue is part of a real life band!

“I’m just working on art commissions and such haha- I’m excited about Boyband Hell going mobile! A lot of people seem to like this game and it’s super cool!

I love that this game dives into the dark side of fandoms, and how parasocial relationships can potentially be dangerous! It's not something that we see talked about often in games, and that makes the games premise all the more unique!”

“Parallel Pulse is my current active project. I’ll also be at Gamescon this year (Aug 21-25) with a booth for Spellbound Hearts.”

-Alex (Funigami), is the first jam programmer to join the team and now interim launch programmer due to afuera’s emergency! He’s lead many projects before and understands the struggles for real, volunteering to help us launch.

“When I'm not working or playing, I'm usually doing art or working on my own audio series called "NeXus"! '

-Eldritch Imp (Mr. Laveau) is one of our active playtesters and narrative feedback consultants! Besides art commissions and VA work, they have an ongoing audio series! 

“I make illustrations! Gay ones! I'm working on more monsters and cyborgs but right now I'm on an evil pixie fix. Find me on IG here. I was a game artist some time ago but I want to actually make queer games this time around. So I'm available as a 2d/pixel game artist, play tester, and of course, commissions!” 

-Murasakitan is another one of our playtesters and ready to make more queer games!

This was an incredible opportunity and it warms my heart to finally see it finally launched. I am proud to have written more story, 100 branched choices, 18 endings, juicy character profiles, and more secrets for this Boyband reunion despite some big life hurdles.
