My vision was to create a sensory rich experience in a mysterious fantastical world with stories within stories that unravel the player character’s own. It’s only with everyone’s help that we could achieve this. I opened up the page for any team member to share their thoughts on the Chiamour experience.

“Working on Chiamour has through and through been a magical experience! Every member of this team has poured their heart into what they've done, and the end product couldn't have come together any more beautifully.”

-Rea, voice of Luphina & silhouette animator “It's always such an honor to get to play a small role in these types of projects. Game jams require you to be quick, yet challenge you to put out a polished, high-quality result. The team behind Chiamour went above and beyond on every aspect. Hearing people's reactions to playing the game makes me smile knowing that this team created something that is making people happy. Really, that's one of the biggest compliments you could ever receive about your work--to know that something that brought you so much joy to make is giving that same sense of joy to those who play it. What an awesome thing to get to share with people ❤️ Thank you so much to Jacqueline, who invited me to be a part of this team and who did an amazing job leading the project. This was the first game I got to provide some animations for, which was super exciting! Voicing Luphina was also such a blast too, it always means a lot to me when a creator puts their trust in me to bring their character to life. I hope that Chiamour touches you the way it has touched me! This project is one I will forever be grateful to have been a part of. I'm so honored to have been a part of the team, and I hope that everyone enjoys playing it as much as we enjoyed making it!”

“Being the composer and sound designer at Chiamor was an incredible experience because I learned a lot about nuances. I am used to being asked for very direct music, something that is very clear and recognizable in terms of its intended emotions, such as sounding purely magical, mysterious, or terrifying, for example. However, in this project, I was asked for a higher degree of nuances. I was requested things like creating mysterious music, but not overly tense, with a touch of wondee but not too happy. Similarly, the references were incredibly varied, ranging from LoFi, orchestral music, to the occasional catchy tune from K.K. Slider.“

-William, composer & sound designer ”In my opinion, far from being confusing, all of this allowed me to create more personal and expressive music, as well as more detailed and aesthetically consistent sound effects. I learned a lot from this experience and am very proud of the beautiful game that, together with the incredibly talented group of artists I worked with, we managed to bring to life.”

“Working on Chiamour helped me improve in so many ways! It also meant participating in a game jam and working with a team this big for the first time.”

-Nuria, item artist & BG/Sprite/CG colourist “Although I originally joined to do the item artworks, due to circumstances mainly caused by the time the jam taking place over Christmas holidays, I was asked if I was available take on more work. I was thrilled to work on several aspects of the game in terms of visuals. - I had the chance to do the colouring on the beautiful sprites done by the concept artists as well as colour some of the CGs along with Navi. And let's not forget the backgrounds! I wanted to start learning and experimenting with drawing and doing more backgrounds and environment scenes, so this was the perfect opportunity to start. Thanks to the 3D artist, Nathan B. who modelled the backgrounds so it would be easier to do these within the time limit. All in all I had so much fun working with the team and I am thankful for how friendly and nice they were at all times. Jacqueline did an amazing job at putting this together as well as making the game feel so magical! ✨”

We sincerely hope you enjoy the game. If we have piqued your curiousity, tickled your brain, touched your heart or soul, please share your experience. If you believe we could elevate the experience further, we’d love to know your thoughts as well.

It means the world to us to read your impressions and takeaways! 😄Here’s one of our favourite excerpts:

P.S. In the spirit of stories within stories, I was inspired by our inkblots and used the Chiamour UI in my VNConf talk on Plot Unblocking! Thank you Demeru for the blessing to repurpose Chiamour UI to help more stories find their way ✨
